After a dramatic opening three days at the All England Club that saw eight top-10 seeds fall in the first round—a record in the Open Era—Djokovic is hoping to avoid joining the early casualties.
The 37-year-old Serbian legend, a seven-time Wimbledon champion, enters the second round having overcome stomach issues in his opening match against Alexandre Muller. Aided by what he jokingly called "miracle pills", Djokovic now faces world No. 154 Evans, who memorably beat him on Monte Carlo’s clay in 2021.
“It’s a good test for both of us,” Djokovic said. “He’s one of the guys that you don’t want to face on grass.”
Though Evans is ranked far below Djokovic, the 35-year-old Brit hopes to harness home support and his grass-court prowess for a major upset.
“It’s my chance to win the match,” Evans insisted. “I have to be competitive.”
Krejcikova’s Comeback on Sacred Ground
Defending women's champion Barbora Krejcikova returns to Centre Court with renewed determination after a rocky start against Alexandra Eala. The Czech 17th seed next faces Caroline Dolehide of the US, hoping to extend her title defense.
Plagued by injuries for much of 2025, Krejcikova has played just six matches this season but found comfort at what she calls the "temple of tennis."

With Andy Murray now retired, 23-year-old Jack Draper is emerging as Britain's new tennis torchbearer. The fourth seed meets 2017 Wimbledon finalist Marin Čilić next.
